Thanks to generous donors, and the proceeds of our pin auction, NYDI offers two great scholarship programs for students who have participated in the program.
We congratulate all of our 2016 scholarship recipients on receiving these well deserved honors:
Morningstar Scholarship
The Morningstar Scholarship honors participants in Challenge A (technical) or Challenge E (structural) who have excelled in these challenges, and who have demonstrated a long term commitment to DI and to team-based creative problem solving.
Marissa Lewis
Marissa Lewis has participated in Destination Imagination for 8 years – competing in the Technical Challenge four times, the Structural challenge, the Scientific Challenge, and the Fine Arts Challenge, advancing to the NY Affiliate Tournament in all 8 years, and to Global Finals 5 times. Se has shown leadership, perseverence, and has contributed consistently to the success of her teams, and to the DI program. Additionally, she was the designer of last year’s great NYDI Fortune Cookie pin. Marissa plans to attend Johns Hopkins University starting in the fall.
Turner Memorial Scholarship
The Turner Memorial Scholarship honors those who inspire others to participate and who contribute by their action to NYDI by giving of themselves with joy and grace for the betterment of our program.
Lillian Brennan
Lillian Brennan has been a participant in Destination Imagination in New York since she was in third grade. She credits the program for teaching her to work well with others, to speak confidently in front of an audience, and to take on leadership roles with ease. Lillian will graduate from Clarence High School in June and plans to attend the College of Saint Rose in the fall majoring in Studio Art.
We salute both Marissa and Lillian in their future endeavors, and hope that they will both return to be alumni appraisers or volunteers.
