newlogoLet the fun begin-AGAIN!

We attended the first ever Destination Imagination™ Global Finals, D2K, at Iowa State University in Ames this past May, and all we can say is “WOW”!  The energy, enthusiasm and unbridled creativity we saw there was beyond anything we could have imagined!  For four days, Ames was overrun with some of the wackiest, most excited people we’ve ever met.  Hilton Coliseum was full to the rafters and  ROCKED during the Opening Ceremonies as teams from around the world paraded in under their state or national flags.  The video show, laser lights, balloons and wild cheering from teams and their supporters combined to make the night unforgettable.  The next day, competition got underway, and we were running to make it to the performances by our New York teams.  In addition to the competitions, teams took part in EXTREME pin trading, watched performances by KidProv, added their contributions to the Really Big Duct Tape Thing (RBDTT), and participated in the myriad of activities offered on campus.  Evening entertainment included the Christian Davis concert, high school graduation ceremony and the team managers’ and officials’ competition.  The closing ceremonies were awesome as a once-again packed Hilton Coliseum celebrated the accomplishments of each team and the end of Destination Imagination’s™ wildly successful inaugural year.  Then, for the perfect end to an unbelievable week, we all dispersed to the incredible celebration parties full of food, games, music and new friends from around the world.  We left physically exhausted, but mentally energized by the enthusiasm, spirit and unbridled creativity of the participants, supporters and officials.  We tip our hats to the Destination Imagination staff and to the hundreds of volunteers who made this phenomenal event possible.

We truly had a blast at the first Global Finals, and we can’t wait to share the excitement with you at the second annual Destination Imagination™ Global Finals to be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from May 23-26, 2001.  It’s easy to join the fun!  Read our Getting Started tips below for step-by-step instructions, then hold on to your hats!  The journey to your Imagination will be a thrilling ride!
