Getting Started:
For New Team Managers
Iโm a Team Manager! Now what?!
On behalf of everyone at Destination Imagination of New York, thank you for volunteering to manage a team. Our program depends on the generosity of volunteers like you, and we want to help you provide a magical and transformative experience for the students on your team.
Every DI team has at least one adult Team Manager. Team Managers ensure the safety of our students and assist them in solving their chosen Challenge. All Team Managers must complete a yearly background check.
DI is 100% student-driven. This means unlike many other coaching positions, your team is responsible for telling you what they need! It’s your responsibility to facilitate meetings and make sure your team has access to the resources they need to solve their Challenge. All of the brainstorming, problem solving, and Challenge development must come solely from the students. More on Interference in the Rules of the Road—which is linked below!
The Basics
Here are the guiding materials every Team Manager should start with.
You will need to use the DI login you created when forming your team to access these materials.
