All 2020 NYDI Tournaments were cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Please see the NYDI V-Celebration of Creativity for information about our end-of-year event.
The number of cases of COVID-19 continues to grow, as Governor Cuomo indicated in his March 10 press conference.
Ossining UFSD, which hosts our Eastern Regional Tournament, and SUNY Broome, which hosts our Affiliate Tournament, have both told us that they will not permit our events or others like them. Both organizations are working to comply with recommendations regarding large gatherings and social distancing.
For that reason, and because the safety, security, and well-being of our teams, volunteers, and supporters is paramount, we have canceled ALL in-person Regional and Affiliate Tournaments, and are seeking alternative options for our teams to present their solutions.
As DI’ers, we embrace challenges and thrive in finding creative solutions to the most difficult of problems. To ensure that our teams have the opportunity to share their solutions in some way, we will be holding an entirely online V-Celebration of Creativity, to which all New York teams will be invited. Our board is diligently ironing out the nuances of how this event will work, and when it will take place. A virtual tournament is largely unprecedented, and while it presents a number of obstacles, we look forward to solving this Challenge, with you, to create the best experience possible.
Reminder: If you have already booked lodging or transportation for the Regional or Affiliate Tournament, you should cancel that booking now.
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate the rapidly evolving situation concerning coronavirus (COVID-19) in our state.
