New York Destination Imagination Celebrates Back-to-School by Kicking Off its 25th Season
Destination Imagination is a STEAM-based educational tournament that inspires young people around the world.
Croton-on-Hudson, NY โ September 18, 2024 โ Destination Imagination of New York (NYDI) welcomes students and educators back to school as it kicks off its 25th year of participating in this exciting international, project-based educational program. Designed to prepare participants for an evolving world, Destination Imagination helps kids from pre-K through grade 12 excel in areas of creativity, collaboration, idea generation, and problem-solving โ all skills that will empower and set them up for lifelong successes.
Each team participating in Destination Imagination will research, plan, and create solutions to one of seven STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) challenges, which theyโll present at one of two regional tournaments in March. Previews, including an introductory video, can be found here. Last year, NYDI had 65 teams participate with 334 team members across the state including Erie County, Ithaca, Long Island, New York City, Syracuse, and Westchester County. Of those, 30 teams advanced to the NYS Affiliate Tournament in Binghamton and 17 competed in the Global Finals in Kansas City, MO.
โThe new school year is an exciting time and we wish our NYDI kids a great start as they reconnect with friends both on and off their DI teams,โ said Josh Diamond, Affiliate Director and Eastern Regional Director, NYDI. โOur dedicated volunteers are available to support their NYDI family, from long-standing members to those just considering DI, and everyone in-between. We hope more teams will join us on this journey โ weโll be beside them all the way!โ
Itโs easy to start a team and NYDI provides resources and one-on-one assistance to guide participants throughout the Destination Imagination experience.
